You're “Successful”—But Exhausted
You’ve done everything “right.” You’ve got the career, the relationship, the kids, and the kind of life that people envy. From the outside, it looks picture-perfect.
But on the inside?
You feel like you’re drowning.
No one sees how hard you’re working to keep it all together. You’re smart, insightful, even self-aware. But none of that has made the pain stop. You’ve read the books. You’ve been in therapy. You know how to breathe through your anxiety and distract yourself from the overwhelm, but nothing has really shifted. Deep down, that voice still whispers that you're not enough. And when something touches a nerve, like your partner’s comment or a moment with your kids, your reaction can feel fast, fiery, and completely out of your control.
Afterward, the shame is heavy. The guilt. The emotional crash. And the same thought keeps coming up:
“Something needs to change.”
“I Should Be Happy—
So Why Do I Feel This Way?”
You’re not looking to narrate your life to a therapist anymore. You want something different. Something deeper. Someone to gently guide you into the why beneath your patterns. Someone who can help you connect with the parts of yourself that are holding pain, fear, or anger, and offer them something they may have never received: compassion.
You may or may not call your past “traumatic,” but you know it shaped you. You were the child no one had to worry about: the one who stayed quiet, got things done, and didn’t take up too much space. But now, that same pattern of staying small, staying in control, and carrying the emotional load for everyone else is slowly wearing you down.
You’re ready to break the cycle, not just for yourself, but for the people you love.
Melanie Green, LMFT: IFS Therapist in Rochester, NH
Hi, I’m Melanie, an IFS Therapist in Rochester, NH
I work with high-achieving, self-aware adults who feel like traditional therapy has hit a wall. My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS): a powerful, evidence-based model that helps you compassionately explore your inner world and connect with the parts of you that have been working overtime to keep you safe.
This is not talk therapy.
IFS is deep, introspective work that leads to real, lasting change.
My sessions are structured more like a guided inner journey than a weekly debrief. We’ll start by slowing things down, helping you connect to your breath and your body. Then, together, we’ll gently explore what’s really going on beneath the surface: the thoughts, emotions, memories, and protective strategies that have been trying to help, but might be getting in your way.
Instead of pushing those feelings away or coping over them, we get curious. You’ll learn how to witness them with compassion and care, and eventually, how to allow them to soften and release the burdens they’ve carried for so long.
Clients Say This Work Feels Unlike
Anything They’ve Tried Before
For many of the people I work with, therapy with me feels noticeably different—even after the first session. Instead of talking through their week or trying to make sense of things intellectually, they find themselves really listening inside, and responding from a much more honest, embodied place.
Clients who used to feel emotionally flooded, reactive, or disconnected begin to notice real, grounded shifts. Moments that would have triggered an emotional spiral now feel manageable. There’s more inner spaciousness, more calm, more ability to connect with others without fear or self-protection.
Over time, clients describe:
Feeling physically lighter, as if something heavy has been released
A deeper sense of ease and stability in relationships
Less time spent overthinking or spiraling, and more time feeling present and whole
A new way of relating to discomfort—not with resistance, but with curiosity and care
A growing sense of self-trust, clarity, and connection to their own internal wisdom
This is what happens when therapy reaches your internal system. This isn’t just coping: it’s transformation.
Frequently Asked Questions About IFS Therapy in Rochester, NH
-
IFS (Internal Family Systems) is an evidence-based, non-pathologizing approach that views your inner world as a system of parts, each with its own role, voice, and purpose. Every part has a positive intention, even if its strategy isn’t always helpful. In IFS, we build a trusting relationship with these parts to uncover and heal the deeper wounds beneath symptoms like anxiety, overthinking, or burnout.
Instead of narrating your week, IFS focuses on direct experience, somatic awareness, and inner connection. It’s less about storytelling and more about emotional healing from within.
This work is often profound. Rather than managing symptoms, IFS invites healing at the root, transforming old emotional wounds and creating a sense of inner peace and clarity. It’s about coming home to yourself.
As an IFS therapist in Rochester, NH, I work from the belief that you already hold the inner resources you need to heal. If you're looking for an IFS therapist in Rochester, NH who brings a warm, down-to-earth approach to deep healing, I’d be honored to support you. Want a more in-depth explanation? Check out my blog.

Many of the clients I work with have spent years in therapy. They’re aware of their triggers, they understand how their past has shaped them, and they’ve done the work, but something still feels stuck.
In our work, we go beyond talking: we gently connect with the parts of you that need healing. No more going in circles, re-telling your story and feeling like nothing changes. Instead, we explore your inner world with curiosity, bring compassion to the parts of you that have worked so hard for so long, and begin to heal the pain you still carry deep inside.
This isn’t about rehashing the same thing with a new person; it’s about tending to what’s underneath. You’ll learn to connect with your center of compassion and begin leading your own healing from that grounded place within. I’m here as your guide, and to walk alongside you on this journey.
For many, this is the first time therapy has felt truly healing and hopeful. IFS might be exactly what you’ve been needing.

Not at all. While IFS is well-known for its powerful trauma healing capabilities, it's equally effective for people navigating anxiety, stress, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or just feeling overwhelmed by life.
Many of my clients wouldn’t describe their experiences as traumatic, but they still carry emotional wounds or deeply ingrained patterns that IFS helps transform. You don’t need a trauma diagnosis to benefit, you just need curiosity and a willingness to explore your inner world.
IFS is especially effective for anxiety, emotional reactivity, and attachment-related challenges that show up in relationships. It helps you understand and soothe these internal patterns, creating more ease within yourself, and more connection with others.

No, not at all. It’s completely natural for our personalities to be multifaceted and complex. We all experience different ways of being and can hold multiple, even conflicting, thoughts, feelings, and beliefs at the same time.
What I call “parts” are simply innate aspects of your unique and beautiful personality. They aren’t signs of pathology or something being wrong. While parts can carry pain or take on difficult beliefs because of past experiences, they’re not created by trauma. They’re part of being human.
Your inner world isn’t broken. It’s rich, dynamic, and worthy of compassion.

I work best with individual adults (18+), especially those in their 30s–50s who have already done some inner work. Many of my clients are emotionally insightful: they know their current struggles are connected to their past, and they’re ready to go deeper and find lasting healing.
While I don’t currently offer couples therapy, individual IFS work often has a powerful ripple effect in relationships. When we heal the parts of us that feel unworthy, anxious, or reactive, we naturally begin to show up with more clarity, calm, and connection. And yes, your partner is likely to notice.
I also work with many parents who recognize that their own emotional patterns are affecting their relationship with their child. If you're carrying a heavy emotional load and want to show up differently, for your kids, your partner, or yourself, this work can be deeply meaningful.

Online therapy offers added flexibility when life gets messy, whether it’s a snowstorm, illness, or a packed schedule. No commute, no parking, just consistent support wherever you are.

Weekly sessions are the most efficient path to creating real, lasting change. This consistent rhythm helps build momentum, deepen your connection with your inner world, and keep the healing process moving forward. Most clients who are ready to do the work and see meaningful shifts choose to meet weekly for this reason.
That said, I also offer biweekly sessions, and we’ll find a cadence that aligns with your goals, life, and capacity. What matters most is creating protected, regular space for you to turn inward and tend to the parts of you that need care.
If you need to reschedule, I simply ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. I hold your session time as sacred, and advance notice allows me to offer that space to someone else who may need support that day.

Therapy is one of the best investments you can make for yourself. My rates reflect the specialized, high quality care I offer, at $200 for a 60-minute session or $300 for a 90-minute session. I know this is a significant commitment, and I’m here to help. Many clients are able to use Out of Network (OON) insurance reimbursement to offset the cost of therapy. As an out-of-network provider I offer a partnership with Thrizer, which makes the process of getting reimbursed super simple, even floating the difference while waiting for reimbursement. I can also provide a superbill directly if you would prefer that. If you’re interested in exploring OON reimbursement, I’m happy to walk you through the process.
