Melanie Green, LMFT

Therapist in Rochester, NH

Hi! I’m Melanie. It’s lovely to meet you.

You’ve been in therapy for a while, but it seems like it’s run its course. You’ve gained insight, built awareness, and yet, something deeper still feels unresolved. Maybe your therapist suggested it’s time for a different kind of work. Or maybe you just know there’s more beneath the surface that needs care. You’re ready to dig deeper.

I’m Melanie Green, and I became a therapist because I’ve always deeply cared about people. I love helping clients experience a shift in how they relate to themselves: an embodied sense of lightness and ease, and the ability to be present and joyful. That’s what happens when the parts of you that have been holding so much finally get to rest.

That’s the heart of Internal Family Systems (IFS), which is a compassionate, evidence-based model that offers both a language and a map for meaningful, lasting transformation. In our work, instead of pushing down or avoiding uncomfortable feelings, we turn toward them with curiosity and care. We follow them to the deep healing your system truly needs. We slow down, listen inward, and create space for real shifts to happen.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist and Level 2 IFS-trained clinician, I have specialized training and experience helping people work through shame, anxiety, and depression. I help people find relief from the lingering effects of what they’ve been through, whether or not they’d describe it as traumatic. I understand how internal experiences play out in our relationships—and how life-changing it can be when our loved ones no longer trigger us in ways that pull the past into the present.

Clients often tell me that this work feels more honest, more embodied, and more effective than anything they’ve tried before. I bring presence, respect, and a deep belief that healing is possible—even if you can’t see it yet.

If you're looking for a therapist in Rochester, NH who can help you move beyond managing symptoms into meaningful change, I’d love to meet you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Melanie Green, Therapist in Rochester, NH

  • I’ve been studying people and what helps them heal for a long time. I have a BA in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College and an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of New Hampshire. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist in New Hampshire (License #268), and I’ve completed both Level 1 and Level 2 trainings through the IFS Institute, with focused study on working with shame, anxiety, and depression. My approach is rooted in solid training, but also in deep respect for your lived experience and the uniqueness of your inner world.

  • I genuinely love people: their stories, their complexity, and their capacity to heal. This work gives me the incredible privilege of sitting with people as they reconnect with parts of themselves that have been carrying so much for so long. IFS has shown me, both professionally and personally, that real healing is possible.

What keeps me grounded in this work is the energy I naturally bring into the room: calm, curiosity, and compassion. Clients often tell me they feel safe and supported in our work together, which allows them to show up more fully and engage more deeply. IFS offered me a new way of working that’s both structured and intuitive, and I’ve seen how life changing it can be, not just for my clients, but in my own life as well.

Being part of someone’s healing journey is something I never take lightly. It’s meaningful, humbling, and full of moments that remind me why I do what I do.

  • That’s a really important question, and one I deeply respect. Trust isn’t something I expect; it’s something I hope to earn, slowly and genuinely, through how I show up with you. I bring a steady, compassionate presence and a deep respect for your internal world. My role isn’t to judge, fix, analyze, or lead with an agenda. It’s to walk alongside you as you connect with what’s really going on beneath the surface.

This work is deeply experiential.  It’s about listening inward, connecting with your body, and allowing the parts of you that carry pain, fear, or responsibility to finally feel heard. The best way to know if this is right for you is to experience it for yourself.  If you’re curious, I invite you to come see what it’s like. You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just show up exactly as you are, and we’ll go from there.
